Building the Future – OFIS, Slovenia

TV series about young architects in Europe

Young architects are also setting new trends with their projects in Eastern Europe - such as Špela Videčnik and Rok Oman from Ljubljana, who have designed avant-garde dream houses, warehouses and even a chapel using simple materials and tight budgets. The Slovenians have already won several international architecture awards for their designs.

The architectural duo's office is called OFIS and is based in the capital Ljubljana. The name is derived from the British term office, which is pronounced OFIS with a voiced s in Slovenian. Beyond the borders of the small Slovenian state between Eastern, Southern and Central Europe, its designs have caused a stir. While the first few years were mainly limited to national projects, in 2008 the pair impressed with their design for a student residence in Paris.
