TV series: 50 Kitchens, one City - Israel

A cross media film production about Berlin based restaurants

TV and web series with the Israeli restaurant Glass

Gal Ben Moshe wants to cook since he could think. And he wants to do it in Berlin. Here the Israeli fulfills his dream of his own restaurant. The Glass is a kind of experimental workshop of the Haute Cuisine. Each course is a small surprise: for the eyes, for the tastes, and anyways for everything. The turbot with cauliflower purée and freekeh, which we cook together for the TV series 50 kitchens, one city is also a little bit of everything: a little bit of Israel, a little bit of Berlin, a little bit international. Just like Gal Ben Moshe and his Glass.

TV series: 50 Kitchens, one City - Portugal

A cross media film production about Berlin based restaurants

TV and web series with the Portuguese restaurant Lisboa Bar

When Fernando Almeida moved from Lisbon to Berlin, his main focus was to learn the language. "Speaking German was very important to me, because I wanted to participate in life and did not remain on the other side," the chef tells us during the film production for 50 kitchens, one city. Fernando likes to capture the mood in his restaurant Lisboa Bar. That is, whenever it is possible, he comes out of the kitchen, goes from table to table and asks his guests if they like his food. For example the fish bowl "Cataplana Mar e Terra", which we prepared together. It tastes great! We were able to convince ourselves of this.

TV series: 50 Kitchens, one City - Argentina

A cross media film production about Berlin based restaurants

TV and web series with the Argentinean restaurant Gloria

Talking, eating and drinking together - in Argentina, that means life style. You actually meet constantly and then there is definitely Empanadas. The dumplings are the favorite food of the Argentinians, next to steaks of course. And they are versatile, because you can fill them with everything possible, as we learned during our shooting in the restaurant Gloria. „When I was a child, there was always a big barbecue at my grandpa’s place each Sunday. And we ate a lot of Empanadas. This is one of my most beautiful childhood memories“, says Santiago Farfan Marque, who runs the restaurant together with Maximiliano Pallocchini. The Argentinian misses these Sundays a lot, but after four years, he also feels quite comfortable in Berlin. Because the Berliners are similar to the people in Buenos Aires - they have a big trap and are very kind, Santiago tells us.

TV series: 50 Kitchens, one City - Iran

A cross media film production about Berlin based restaurants

TV and web series with the Iranian restaurant Saray

In 1979 Saeed Sanatpour came from Iran to Berlin as a student of communications technology. In his profession, however, he never worked, instead he opened a restaurant. In the "Saray" he serves the cuisine of his childhood, which is closely linked to his mother, who cooked the very best Gheimeh Bademjan, as Saeed tells us during our day of shooting. This traditional dish we also cooked together for the TV series 50 kitchens, one city. However, the Iranian tells us, "If I were to eat this in Iran, it certainly would taste better, because of the memories. Even if Germany is now my home, I was very much influenced by Iran, and that makes the taste of home." Emotionally detached, we absolutely love it!

TV series: 50 Kitchens, one City - Thailand

A cross media film production about Berlin based restaurants

TV and web series with the Thai restaurant Dao by Meo

Good vibrations, lots of fun, traditional Thai food and a little bit of sun: Pratina Kross would like to bring all this to Berlin. After spending a day with her at her Dao by Meo restaurant in Charlottenburg, we know she's fulfilling all of her wishes. Pratina, when she came to Germany in 1997, was first disappointed by her new home. She thought everything is pink and beautiful. But it was cold, constantly dark, she did not understand the language, and knew no one. But the Thai woman has a rather sunny disposition and at the same time is a very good businesswoman. Ambitiously, she pursues her goals. Beside her restaurant, she also runs a cooking school. Here, Pratina prepares for us a yellow curry with chicken according to an old family recipe. Delicious!
