Basiliscus Film consists of Stephanie and Uwe: a television journalist and a cameraman.

For over twenty years, Stephanie Drescher and Uwe Schwarze have been making films together that make complex topics easy to understand – researched like a news report, told like a documentary.

What sets us apart

We have a background in journalism. We quickly get to grips with complex topics – industry, science, socially sensitive issues – and present them in a way that is easy to understand.

We show, rather than simply assert. The fact that we have been working for broadcasters, government departments and associations for over twenty years means, above all, that our clients can be confident that the end result will be ready for broadcast.

What you get from us

We know what a film needs before it’s even shot. We’ve been working in television and film production for over two decades – and our backgrounds are in journalism and visual design: the former provides content and narrative structure, the latter ensures the right framing, lighting and a cut that works perfectly.

We uncover the story within your subject matter, plan the shoot so that nothing on set is left to chance, and see the film through to the finished master. Creative and reliable – for us, that’s no contradiction.

A television journalist who has been with SPIEGEL TV for eight years – covering everything from news to feature-length documentaries.

At Basiliscus, she is responsible for research, concept development and direction, and oversees the budget and production processes.

Uwe Schwarze

director of photography | cameraman | drone

Cameraman and editor, educated at the UdK under Heinz Emigholz and Jutta Brückner; has spent thirty years travelling the world with his camera.

He is responsible for cinematography and post-production – and can also be booked individually as a freelance cameraman and DOP.

The extended network

For larger or specialised productions, we expand our core team with a well-coordinated network of professionals: cameramen, OB crews, sound engineers, live streaming specialists and media trainers. This enables us to scale our operations from two-person shoots to productions involving multiple crew members – both nationally and internationally.
