TV series: 50 Kitchens, one City - Japan

A cross media film production about Berlin based restaurants

TV and web series with the Japanese restaurant Cocolo Ramen

When Yosuke Sumida came from Japan to Germany at the age of six, he experienced the change as a cultural shock. But because he was still very young, he quickly felt at home. It was more difficult when he went back to his home country five years later. He lived between the two cultures, tried to use the best of each for himself. Meanwhile he lives permanently in Berlin, loves the city, the people, his work as restaurant operator and head chef at Cocolo Ramen, a restaurant specialized in ramen soups. What used to be a typical working-class meal is now more than just a matter of course. In Japan and Germany. The noodles are very expensive to produce. "The perfect noodles are, if they pick up a certain amount of the broth, nevertheless are bite-resistant and have a light flour flavor," Yosuke tells us during our shooting.
