TV series: 50 Kitchens, one City – Great Britain
Produced for Deutsche Welle – with love, hunger and a camera crew.
»50 Kitchens, One Home« – Basiliscus Film produced 50 magazine features over nine months on behalf of Deutsche Welle for the lifestyle magazine euromaxx.
Stephanie Drescher was responsible for editing, research and organisation, whilst Uwe Schwarze handled camera work and post-production. Together, we filmed in 50 Berlin kitchens, wrote all the voice-over scripts and penned the text for the accompanying publication. 50 people, 50 recipes, 50 stories about home, cooking and life in one of the world’s most diverse cities.
TV and web series with the British restaurant Muse
Everyone knows fish and chips. What British cuisine is truly capable of, very few people realise. For this episode of our series production »50 Kitchens, one City«, we dug a little deeper – and found a version of British food that doesn't appear in any cliché. Fifty times our camera team and we drove across Berlin looking for exactly these kinds of stories.
Caroline Grinsted likes to read cookbooks. When she gets up in the morning, she thinks about what she wants to cook for lunch, or wants to eat, her husband Tobias tells us. Food plays just a prominent role in the life of the chef. If she does not eat, she ponders about new recipes. Her passion is boundless and her motto probably the basis of her success: »I meal that is unenjoyable is a wasted experience. It is something we all need to do, to eat to keep ourselves alive, but given that we need to do it, we should make it as nice as we possibly can.« This is how Caroline and Tobias started the experiment to run a supper club – to cook at home and invite strangers. The concept quickly became a restaurant, the »Muse«. For us, Caroline prepared »Chicken Tikka Masala«, one of the new national dishes in the UK. Say again, the British can not cook!
