CASE STUDY: CORPORATE VIDEO FOR A SOFTWARE PRODUCT

Corporate film and product video – software presentation for Beuth Verlag in Berlin

Our cinematic concept: Company employees present their software product and convey authenticity

Because norms and standards make the world significantly easier for all of us, the Berlin-based Beuth Verlag focuses on exactly that. In our corporate film and product video for the publisher, we introduce their brand-new standards management software, Nautos. Together with agency stereobloc, we developed a concept that turns employees into mentors of the software. Through them, viewers get to know Nautos. This achieves a level of credibility that only a company's own employees can create, allowing them to present the product in a truly authentic way.

Another authenticity-enhancing element in this product film is the use of lower thirds. All employees were identified by name and job title, giving viewers even greater confidence when assessing their credibility.

To also familiarise the target audience with the product's interface, we regularly incorporate brief screen recordings of the software throughout the film.

Visual standardisation: The "standardised" outfit on set

In the product video, the choice of clothing serves as a stylistic metaphor for standardisation

In our standardised world, everything – yes, truly almost everything – follows a norm. In everyday life, we barely notice it; it's taken for granted. Yet international trade, commerce and globalisation would be impossible without agreed-upon standards. Did you know there is even a World Standards Day? It is celebrated every year on 14 October – but that's just a side note.

To express the theme of standardisation even more clearly, we created a "standardised" on-screen outfit. All protagonists were asked to wear the same clothing. We chose black trousers paired with a matching blue top. In doing so, we made Beuth Verlag's core field of work – the standardisation of our environment – visually tangible. Our idea was to create a unified look that, on one hand, reflects the theme of standardisation and, on the other, reinforces the spirit of teamwork. Everyone working together towards a common goal, delivering the best solution for their customers. A great concept that also supported the storytelling of the corporate film. So, for the day of filming, we ordered light blue shirts for all employees, also incorporating Beuth Verlag's corporate design.

Clothing is also a major topic in other areas of filmmaking. Find out more in this article.

This is what our customer said:

For one of my long-standing clients – a software manufacturer with whom I have enjoyed a long and trusting working relationship – I brought Basiliscus Film on board to produce a corporate video. I was confident that I would find the expertise there that I myself lack.

And that’s exactly how it turned out! Working together with Basiliscus Film and the client’s marketing department, we created a wonderful, short and bespoke corporate video that’s compelling, strikes the right note and stands out clearly from the usual standard solutions.

Developing the concept together was a pleasure; from the very first moment, it was clear that an experienced team with great intuition and effective communication was at work here. Highly recommended!
