Hamburg Harbor Celebrates its 825th Birthday
When the Port of Hamburg celebrates its birthday, thousands of people gather to watch the colourful hustle and bustle at the Landungsbrücken. One of the most exciting moments: The arrival parade! Majestic tall ships, imposing cruise liners, modern naval units and time-honoured traditional ships sail into Hamburg's harbour basin to congratulate them. One of these ships is the Cap San Diego. A museum ship that is normally berthed in Hamburg harbour, but is still fit to sail. To mark the start of this year's harbour birthday, the Cap San Diego is offering 500 passengers – the ship is already fully booked – a trip on the Elbe to Glückstadt. Back in the port of Hamburg, guests can marvel at a turning manoeuvre on the Elbe, for which the entire harbour basin is closed, and experience the entry parade directly from the ship.
On Friday, we were able to experience the 825th Hamburg Harbour Birthday on board the museum ship Cap San Diego. Our camera team had a look around the ship for Euromaxx and were able to enjoy lots of hospitality and the »great« weather in Hamburg!
